WHAT IS THE GIFTS TO THE WOODS PROGRAM?
Over the years some residents of Farmington Woods have wanted to recognize their tenure in “The Woods” and to do something to help ensure that future residents continue to enjoy their time here. There are residents who have lived in the community for extended periods of time – 20-30 years and beyond. Others have not lived in “The Woods” for as long, but a common thread is “we love living here.” They have enjoyed their working years or retirement here; they have learned to play pickleball or tennis; they have enjoyed summers in the pools with grandchildren and quiet walks along the walkways.
In September of 2001, an informal and strictly voluntary program was started to establish a mechanism through which interested parties could make a contribution to Farmington Woods. All donations are voluntary and entirely at the discretion of the donor.
WHAT KIND OF DONATIONS ARE MADE?
- Unrestricted gifts. For residents who have no preferences for the use of their gifts, donors may make an unrestricted gift the use of same to be determined by the General Manager.
- Purchasing items needed in the community. The General Manager maintains a listing of a wide range of items (available elsewhere on this site) which have been submitted by staff members and various committee members over time. Some examples, but not intended to be all-inclusive, of needs in the community are as follows:
- The purchase of various types of equipment to include vehicles, landscape maintenance equipment, office equipment, pool, tennis, or pickleball equipment;
- Furnishings and other improvements to the clubhouse, improvements to ponds and other common areas, and other similar needs and improvements.
- Landscape improvements, signage, lighting;
- In addition, several gifting options for residents who wish to donate but prefer a more modest investment are available.
- Major Gifts. The size and nature of a major donation are difficult to determine, as there are practically limitless possibilities. Interested parties should bring their ideas to the General Manager. Such gifts may be made while living or by bequest in a Will or Trust. The General Manager will not provide legal advice and recommends that donors consult their attorney and/or financial advisor when gifting through a Will or Trust.
The implementation of any major gift would require approval by the Master Association Board. Implementation of any gift that involves an alteration to District Property will be submitted to the District Board for approval. Once approved by the respective Boards, the General Manager will implement the administration of the gift.
